Rural & Urban Cadastral Surveys

Cadastral surveys deal with the definition and subdivision of land and the creation of new titles, on a cadastre. A cadastre is defined as..."a public record, survey, or map of the value, extent, and ownership of land as a basis of taxation".

The rules relating to cadastral surveying in New Zealand are complex and governed by a variety of organisations including Land Information New Zealand who (among others) administer the Land Transfer Act, the Survey Act, the Unit Titles Act and the territorial authorities who have responsibility for the Resource Management Act.

Dealing with a wide variety of rules, knowing what can and cannot be done and understanding how to go about the process is often confusing and can be very time consuming. Registered Surveyors such as Middleton Williams & Co. have considerable expertise in cadastral surveying matters and can guide you through all the obstacles and help you avoid the costly pitfalls.

The cadastral surveying work undertaken by Middleton Williams & Co. includes the subdivision of land, boundary adjustment, definition and relocation of boundaries, removal of title limitations, unit title surveys, cross lease surveys and natural boundary surveys (seas, rivers & lakes).

We have an enviable record of having produced high quality, successful subdivisions in and around Canterbury for nearly 100 years. We have built our solid reputation by listening to our clients' needs and finding the best way of helping them achieve their goals.

Whether your project is a 2 lot subdivision in the city, a boundary adjustment or a 10,000 hectare rural development, we can do it all!
