Topographical SurveysTopographical surveys form the basis for many of the land development projects undertaken by Middleton Williams & Co and as a consequence are very important to the project's overall success. They can range in complexity from a relatively simple measure up for an urban subdivision that shows basic levels and existing house/building positions to large- scale site plans showing detailed contours, site topography and existing fence lines and buildings. These large-scale topographical plans are used for engineering design purposes including the calculations of earthwork volumes, roading and drainage design. Architects designing new houses, particularly on hillside sites, also use our topographical plans. Topographical surveys are often undertaken to determine the effects that trees or other structures have on the shading of sunlight on adjoining properties. Topographical survey data is gathered using either total stations/electronic theodolites or GPS and processed using TRIMAP and SDRMap surveying software with the final topographical plans generated using AutoCAD computer aided draughting software giving a clear, concise and professional presentation. Final plans can be produced in either paper or electronic file format to suit client requirements.
